Hello Richmond, hello sunny skies and hello events!

We’ve got two events for each day of the excellent weekend ahead, although it’s hard to narrow it down to just six selections.

FRIDAY

Flying Squirrels

Even if spring isn’t back all the way, the Flying Squirrels are back and ready to GO NUTS. Friday’s game is against the New Britain Rock Cats.

Sweeney Todd

April 6, 11-13 & 18 – 20 at 7:30 pm
April 7, 14 & 21 at 3:00 pm

The popular Victorian character comes to life on stage. Dark, nightmarish and thrilling, Christopher Bond’s play (that Sondheim’s musical is based on) follows the barber, Sweeney Todd, as he plots his bloody revenge against the judge who betrayed and deported him on false charges.

Cost: Tickets are $10 for VCU students with a valid ID, $15 for other students with a valid ID, $20 for seniors and VCU faculty and staff and $25 for general admissio

SATURDAY

Bill Conference, Esquire

8:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Bill conference is a half-day unconference around the theme of making things, especially very small simple things. They will talk about goals and failures and the humility of getting through the day. What it takes to craft something you want to share with the world and what happens when things go horribly wrong.

Got an unfinished Project of Shame lurking in your basement or on your hard drive?

Local Suds Brew & Canal Tour

12:00PM- 5:30PM

“A one of a kind experience”  of the local suds community that taps into local breweries, Richmond’s “most hip” Mexican restaurant, and provides a in-depth look at the Canal system that was a catalyst to the growth of our fair city. With partners; Legend Brewing Co., Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, Center of the Universe Brewing Co, Venture Richmond, and Casa Del Barco it’s a truly unique Richmond experience.

SUNDAY

They Might Be Giants

John Flansburgh and John Linnell are the songwriting duo behind New York-based They Might Be Giants. Quirky pop songs and constant touring have made this group one of the most popular college rock bands of the past two decades.

Movie Under the Stars

8:00 PM

Grab a blanket or chair and spend the evening watching a movie under the stars on a 26-foot screen.

“Movies Under the Stars” kicks off on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Shepherd Stadium with the movie “Lincoln” showing at 8:00 pm. Doors open 45 minutes prior to show time.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate (cash only at the gate). Ticket prices are $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children under 12.

Advance ticket packages are also available for $15.00, which includes four admittance tickets, four hot dogs, four drinks, and one popcorn.

No outside food or beverages allowed. Concessions available for purchase.
