POWHATAN COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - Today we were able to get a glimpse into the past of the man police are calling a person of interest in the death of 42-year-old Madalyn Carey.  Carey, a Chester woman, was shot to death before her body was discovered inside her burned home.  Now a manhunt is underway to find Lloyd Edward Warren, Jr., 46.

Investigators said Warren was sharing the Duxton Drive home with Carey at the time of her death.  CBS 6 uncovered court records showing Warren's past riddled with violence.

In June 2003 another woman, an ex-girlfriend claimed Warren was drunk and threw a beer bottle at her as she tried getting into her car with her three children.  As the car's windshield smashed, the children "were screaming and scared," according to court documents.

Several months later in August 2003, the same woman filed a complaint that claimed Warren "took me by the back of the neck and threw me on the floor.  I then took the phone and my kids and got in my car and called 9-1-1."

Warren was found guilty of assault for the August 2003 offense. He was sentenced to 12-months probation, fined $500 and ordered to have no contact with the victim.

In August 2008, another incident involving the same woman led to her having an emergency protective order served.

The order reads: "Lloyd Warren has assaulted you in the past and there may be warrants pending for attempted arson."

Detectives are still trying to determine a motive in the homicide of Madalyn Carey.

Lloyd Edward Warren Jr. was last seen driving a black 2009 Nissan Altima with Virginia plates WWA-2759.
