UPDATE: The gas line leak at Parham Road at Interstate 64 was repaired overnight and lanes should reopen to traffic by 7:00 a.m., according to the Richmond Department of Public Utilities. The ramp from I-64 west to Parham Road north (exit 181A) has also reopened, according to VDOT.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A gas leak Thursday evening closed down Parham Road at I-64 in Henrico County.

Henrico Fire spokesman Capt. Jim Mellon said crews were dispatched to the leak just after 7 p.m.  Mellon said crews discovered gas coming from the ground from the southbound lane of Parham Road.

As a result, the southbound lanes of Parham Road are expected to remain shut down through the Friday morning rush, possibly until noon.

Mellon said exit 181A from westbound I-64 to southbound Parham Road is closed. Exit 181 from eastbound I-64 is open with all traffic being diverted to southbound Parham.
