RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Skies cleared overnight in the northern half of Virginia after a damp day. With light winds, fog began forming overnight. The fog is at its most dense in Northern Virginia, the Northern Neck and into the Middle Peninsula. Fog Advisories are in effect there until 9 a.m.

By mid-morning, winds will pick up in response to an approaching cold front from the northwest, and that will aid the sunshine in mixing the near-ground air and getting rid of the fog.

Until then, please allow extra driving space between you and surrounding vehicles. Keep your fog or low-beam lights on, even after sunrise. Make sure you can hear activity on the road outside of your vehicle in case there is a problem ahead of you that you cannot yet see.
