CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) — Chesterfield schools announced Friday that April 24 will be a full day, instead of an early-release day, for students.

Officials said in a news release the change is because students have already missed five days this school year because of Hurricane Sandy and winter weather.

“Teachers and administrators are working hard to prepare students for end-of-year assessments,” said Dr. Marcus Newsome, superintendent of Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Newsome went on to say that the extra half day will help ready students for Standards of Learning, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and other tests.
