A Tulsa dentist may have exposed as many as 7,000 patients to hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV since 2007, according to a report from KOTV.

One of Dr. W. Scott Harrington’s patients contracted hepatitis B, prompting the investigation, according to the report.

Tulsa County Health Department officials announced at a news conference on Thursday (March 28) afternoon.

An investigation into Harrington’s practice found numerous violations of health and safety laws and major violations of the State Dental Act, the department said.

Dr. Harrington voluntarily gave up his practice.

Now nearly 7,000 patients who went to Harrington’s dental practices in Tulsa or Owasso will have to be notified about potential exposure to blood-borne viruses.
