ARLINGTON, Va. (WTVR) – Patrons in northern Virginia can now check out more than books and movies at some libraries.

In honor of Women’s History Month, branches of the Arlington County Public Library are letting girls check out American Girl dolls for free.

“Already we have about a six-month waiting list,” Diane Kresh, the library system’s director, told WJLA.

Each doll, which cost more than $100 in a store, comes with its own historical story.

Librarians are hopeful kids will do more than just play with the dolls. In fact, , Kresh said the program came to share the history of Arlington.
