(CNN) — Alternative rock band My Chemical Romance has called it quits, thanking its fans and describing its 12-year run as a “true blessing.”

The Newark, New Jersey, group posted a farewell on its website late Friday.

“We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible,” the announcement read. “We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.”

My Chemical Romance released its debut album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought me Your Love,” in 2002.

Its most well-known singles included “Helena,” “I’m Not OK (I Promise),” and “Welcome to the Black Parade,” according to Billboard Hot 100.
