After two seasons, “Enlightened’s” light has been snuffed out.  HBO confirmed on Tuesday that the series, which stars co-creator Laura Dern as a woman whose attempts to live a more enlightened life has unexpected consequences, isn’t returning for a third round.

“It was a very difficult decision,” HBO said. “We’re proud of the show and we look forward to working with [co-creator] Mike White and Laura Dern in the future.”

But as we’ve seen through the advent of Kickstarter funding a movie based on a defunct TV series and Netflix resurrecting cult favorites, some fans aren’t losing hope that “Enlightened” could return.

“Everyone Tweet @netflix RIGHT NOW,” comedian/actor Patton Oswalt tweeted Tuesday night. “Ask them to pick up ‘Enlightened.’ Followers…ASSEMBLE! At my signal, unleash hell!”
