SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WLKY) — Two children in Kentucky have been hospitalized with chemical burns after a meth bust at an apartment building.

The children in Bullitt County were taken to Kosair Children’s Hospital Saturday night after police said they were contaminated by methamphetamine.

Five people were taken out of the Shepherdsville apartment and arrested Saturday.

Police put a warning sign on the door after reportedly finding meth inside, but it’s what else police discovered in the apartment that was shocking to the people who live in the building.

“I never thought that this would happen, like, literally two doors down,” said neighbor Hanna Coder.

Police said the children were exposed to so many harsh fumes they actually had meth on their skin and had to be hospitalized.

“Just to hear that two kids just, it just breaks my heart to hear that sort of thing,” said Coder. “Hearing that they had to be hospitalized because of something their parents did.”

Neighbors also said it was usually a busy apartment with people always stopping by.
