RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The VCU Rams (26 – 8) received a #5 seed and will take on the #12 seed Akron Zips in the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

VCU coach Shaka Smart was an assistant coach at Akron from 2003 – 2006.
The game is Thursday in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
CBS 6 will broadcast the Ram take on the Zips around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Should the Rams advance, they would play the winner of #4 Michigan/#13 South Dakota State in the round of 32.
