Traffic delays on I-95 expected until Monday morning
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – VDOT work on the bridge over Overbrook Road is causing backups on I95 in both directions.
The work is expected to last until 6am Monday morning.
This is the latest in a series of bridge repair projects in the Richmond area.
“This finishes the work on the Overbrook bridges. We still have Lombardy which is the big one,” Dawn Eishen, a spokeswoman with VDOT, said.
For drivers who dealt with delay they decribed the ordeal as “horrible” and “frustrating.”
AAA safety expert Martha Meade is warning all drivers to be careful in these workzones, especially over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend.
“We urge drivers to just exercise patience in these work zones. We need to protect the people who are out there risking their lives on roads where there is more distracted drivers than ever before,” Meade said.
VDOT encourages all drivers to be alerted of any possible delays at http://www.511virginia.org.
