WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WTVR) – A Marine Corps veteran saved a woman’s life early Tuesday morning, in part he said, thanks Wisconsin’s newly passed concealed carry permit law, according to a report on Fox6Now.com.

Charlie Blackmore was on his way home from work at 4:00 a.m. when something on the sidewalk caught his eye. When Blackmore realized it was a woman being attacked, he said he quickly pulled over and jumped out of his car.

“I said ‘stop’ and he starts coming towards me and that’s when I drew on him. He started getting closer and I said ‘get down on the ground,’” Blackmore said.

Blackmore called police while holding the suspect at gunpoint.

He said that several times while waiting for authorities to arrive, the suspect made moves toward him. Blackmore warned the suspect that he would shoot if provoked.

“I mean I’ve already made it up in mind that if he came at me I was going to have to take him down and I told him that. I warned him multiple times not to come towards me because he was a big guy and I wasn’t playing around and he didn’t seem like he was playing around,” Blackmore said.

When police arrived, Blackmore said they had to wrestle the suspect to the ground.

They then asked to see Blackmore’s concealed carry permit.

He put his hands over his head and told them to grab his wallet. After taking a look, police returned Blackmore’s wallet.

Blackmore said situations like this are the reason he supports Wisconsin’s new law and gun owner’s rights.

“We do good things. Not all of us are bad or crazy gun nuts. There are good people,” Blackmore said.
