RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – On Wednesday, school leaders gave students at Armstrong High School a lesson on the harmful effects of cyber-bullying .

The training comes after a student’s mother contacted CBS 6 about a Facebook page, allegedly created by Armstrong HIgh Schoolers, where pictures of the woman’s daughter and others were posted with profane descriptions about the profiled students’ sexual behavior.

School leaders explained to CBS 6 why the cyber lesson is so important.

“We have to let students know what bullying really is, the definition of bullying; [we have to] let students know that the kinds of things, the negative social media and those kinds of things,  they may think is okay, are really not okay,” said Charles Johnson, Violence Prevention Specialist with Richmond Public Schools.

Richmond School leaders are still investigating the Facebook posts.
