UPDATE: The bull that was running loose in James City County is back with its owner. James City County Police Major Stephen Rubino said the bull wandered onto a neighbor's property. The neighbor herded the bull in with his cows for its owner to come pick up.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WTVR) -- Drivers in James City County are being told to be on alert as police search for a bull that has been on the loose since Sunday.

"This is not something that is very common," Major Steve Rubino of the James City County Police Department said.

According to police, two bulls escaped their enclosure on March 3. Since then one bull was caught and euthanized, another remains at large.

Todd Meadows, the owner of the animal, says the bull weighs about 600 pounds and is about a year old. He believes the bull is hiding in woods during the day and going into fields at night.

As a result, police set up an electronic sign near the sight of the escape to warn drivers of the potential danger.

"With the limited amount of street lights on the scene and a bull you may not see it until it is too late," Rubino said.

Anyone with information regarding the bull is asked to contact animal control at 757- 253-1800.
