NC fire chief dies battling brush fire

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WTKR) — The fire chief of the Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department died Sunday after going into respiratory and cardiac arrest while battling a fire.

According to Randall Edwards, a public information officer for Currituck County, Chief Scott Morrison was treated at the scene by Currituck EMS and en route to a hospital in Virginia.

However, crews were not able to revive him and Edwards said Morrison was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m.
