RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- For many Richmond gun enthusiasts, Sunday was a sad day because the Showplace along Mechanicsville Turnpike hosted its last gun show after 25 years.
"I'm going to miss it," longtime gun dealer Dallas Sizemore said.
"A lot of good folks a lot of good relationships made here at the Showplace," Jerry Cochran, another gun dealer, said.
According to C & E event organizers, the Showplace has signed a long-term lease with a department store and, as a result, has ended the East End venue's relationship with gun show organizers.
While organizers hope to have another venue chosen soon, that task is easier said than done. Until further notice all future shows by C & E have been cancelled.
This is just the latest frustration for many gun enthusiasts. This year has already seen a rise in criticism related to gun show practices.
Resulting in no shortage of opinions from dealers regarding people who want gun control.
"There is just a lot of misinformation out there," Sizemore said.
"If you say we can't have something, Americans are going to have it we're going to show the government we is in charge," Cochran said.
But gun control activists says they are not going anywhere.
Democrat State Delegate Joe Morrissey says limitations on gun use must be passed.
"Seventy-six percent of Virginians support new gun laws, most people think it is a good idea," Morrissey said.
