RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- A group of 18 Armstrong High School choir students are  on their way to perform at New York City's Carnegie Hall.

The students will be singing at the prestigious Performing Arts Center Sunday night.

They received the invitation after performing well in another competition in New York. However, the kids almost were not able to go because they couldn't afford it.

But members of the community, former Armstrong graduates and even the mayor stepped in to help pay for the trip.
