GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. (WTVR) – A 104-year-old Michigan woman said she had to lie about her age on Facebook. Marguerite Joseph is blind and hard of hearing. With the help of her granddaughter, she uses Facebook to stay connected to friends and family across the country.

“She gets that it’s on the computer,” her granddaughter Gail Marlow said. “She gets that it’s relatives sending her things. Does she understand social media? I would say probably not.”

Marguerite was 102 when she started Facebook, but when she set up her profile, the birth year 1908 was not an option. Each time they tried to establish the correct year, a Facebook error message appeared.

"I would like to say she's 104 years old on Facebook. And on April 19.. in a couple months.. she's going to be 105," Marlow said. "It's an opportunity to share my grandmother's amazing life and her journey through life, to share it with other people. So they can see here's this wonderful woman and the incredible things that she does."

The granddaughter said she sent a message to Mark Zuckerberg for help.
