VIRGINIA BEACH (WTVR) – A Virginia Beach grandmother said thieves broke into her home on Valentine’s Day and stole $1,000 worth of change, according to a report on WTKR.com.

“It’s heartbreaking,” grandmother Lori Skytta said. “I mean, it may not seem like a lot to a lot of people, but it was a lot for me.”

It was Lori’s husband Dan who found the couple’s Kempsville home ransacked.

“It looks like they were looking for liquid assets,” he said.

The couple believes at least two people broke into their home because the five-gallon water jug filled with changed weighed nearly 100 pounds.

Lori Skytta said she was collecting “state quarters” to pass down to her newborn grandson.
