RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- The Richmond School Board is meeting once again this weekend to come up with ideas on how to offset the district's $11-million budget gap.

In fact, the board has spent the last two Saturdays trying to figure out what items to slash from the budget in the wake of funding issues for Richmond Public Schools.

Superintendent Yvonne Brandon has been recommending major changes to make up for the shortfall, including cutting hundreds of jobs and decreasing benefits for teachers.

The board said one major goal is to make cuts that have the least directly impact on students’ education.

Watch for updates on this developing story when the board votes on the proposed cuts Tuesday evening. Check back with WTVR.com and watch CBS 6 News for the latest.
