Update: Intersection is now open.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The Newbys Court and Newbys Bridge Road intersection is currently closed due to a fire on the 7400 block of Newbys Court.
Fire officials say the call came in at 10:18 a.m. The fire started in the chimney but quickly spread to the roof and left a significant amount of damage. Lt. Elmore says a squirrel’s nest in the chimney caused the fire to spread. Units marked the fire under control 20 minutes later.
One adult and one teenager were home at the time but evacuated safely. No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross was requested to assist. They will be displaced.
