RICHMOND, Va.—Tickets can be expensive and overlooking parking restrictions could soon come at a higher cost.

The City of Richmond will soon beef up its enforcement of parking violations  For any vehicle with more than three unpaid parking tickets, the City will start to place yellow or orange boots to the car.

According to the City, enforcement has recently been lenient in collecting fines associated with unpaid parking tickets.

However, beginning April 1, the City’s parking ticket enforcer will start using “license plate recognition technology” to place citations on vehicles with a certain number of unpaid parking tickets.
