SALT LAKE CITY (KDVR) — Despite efforts from fellow passengers to revive him, a man died aboard a United Airlines flight from Denver to Salt Lake City Sunday, according to a report.

United Airlines spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm confirmed the death of a passenger on United Flight 5596 out of Denver on Tuesday.

According to KSL, Jared Noall, a combat medic with the Army Reserve who happened to be on board, assisted with performing CPR until paramedics arrived on the ground.
Noall said passengers didn’t realize anything was wrong with the man, who appeared to be sleeping, until the plane landed.

“I asked, ‘Hey, sir, are you awake?'” Noall told the T.V. station. “I shook him a bit, trying to see if I could get a response out of him. We checked his throat for a pulse, and it wasn’t there. So we laid him down in the aisle and start CPR.”

Using an on-board defibrillator, Noall and two others assisted in providing the man CPR until paramedics arrived. After an hour an a half, the man was pronounced dead.
The identity of the man, who appeared to be in his 30s, is yet to be released as of Tuesday morning.
