WASHINGTON (WTVR) -- A tree in one of the country's most well-known landmarks has been mistakenly cut down.
A contractor for the National Park Service turned a 140-year-old healthy Ginko tree into a stump, when he was supposed to cut down a dead ash tree located in a completely different location of downtown D.C.
The park service said it is incomprehensible how that could happen -- and is working with the company to possibly seek damages.
