RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Olympian and Virginia native Gabby Douglas received a standing ovation when she was honored Tuesday at the Virginia State Capitol.

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling (R - Virginia) presented Douglas with a framed declaration, highlighting her achievements.

Last summer, 16-year-old gymnast became the first African-American to win the gold medal in the All-Around Gymnast competition.

After the ceremony, Douglas told CBS 6 how excited she was to be honored by the General Assembly.

"I especially want to thank Senator Lucas for presenting me with this amazing resolution, and my entire state has definitely been behind me, supporting me, and I just want to say, 'Thank You,'" she said.

Gabby still has her eyes on the Gold. In fact, she told CBS 6 she plans to "do it all over again" in 2016.
