RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Former Richmond Police Chief Bryan Norwood will receive more than $67,000 in severance money, according to Tammy Hawley, spokeswoman for Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones.

Hawley said Norwood will receive $50,581.51 – which equals one month’s pay for every year of service to the city. Norwood made $142,800 a year.

The former chief will also get $16,478.04 for unused vacation. He will not be reimbursed for unused sick days, Hawley said.

Tuesday morning Mayor Jones announced Norwood’s resignation. The mayor called Norwood’s departure a mutual decision. Former assistant Richmond Police Chief Ray Tarasovic is coming out of retirement to take over as Richmond’s new police chief.
