(WTVR) – Michael Vick has reached a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report on NFL.com.

The Newport News native and former Virginia Tech Hokie agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles, NFL.com’s Albert Breer reported. The deal could be worth up to $10 million for next season, ESPN reported.

On the Eagles website, the Vick announcement is written with the headline “Vick Stays To Compete For Job.”

“There’s open competition. Both of them [Vick and Nick Foles] are outstanding quarterbacks. Who the starting quarterback is will be decided on the practice field,” first-year Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said at a Monday afternoon press conference. “In this league, you gotta have two (quarterbacks).”

“I feel like this is the perfect situation for me. After talking with Chip and looking at the offense, I wanted to be here,” Vick told Yahoo! Sports.
