WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVR) - A 17 year court battle over the Redskins name is headed back to court next month.

It was also the topic of a forum at the National Museum of the American Indian Thursday night, where panelists spoke out about how the football team's name is racist.

Panelists pointed out that for the Choctow and Chickasaw nations, the name reminds them of when their ancestors were captured or killed -- and skins were returned as bounties.

Even Washington D.C.'s Mayor Vincent Gray avoided calling the Washington's NFL franchise by name in his State of the District speech this week.

A new lawsuit is expected to be heard next month at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
