RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k set a new single-day record for sign ups.
The Richmond Sports Backers reported 6,321 people registered for the race Thursday. The registration price rose $5 at midnight Friday morning. The previous record was 3,886 set on January 31, 2012.
The Sports Backers said more than 23,000 people have registered for the race, 11,000 of those sign ups have come in the last four days.
Registration for the April 13, 2013 Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k presented by MARTIN’S and Virginia 529 Kids Run is available at www.sportsbackers.org. The cost to register for the 10k is $35 and $20 for the Kids Run through February 28. Registration for the YMCA 10k Training Team is currently $65 and is also available online through February 8. The event will accept the first 40,000 entries received.
