RICHMOND. Va. (WTVR) – Gas prices are on the rise again. It’s costing drivers  more to fill up these days, and analysts say it appears the price hike that typically occurs in the spring is getting an early start.

The national average for a gallon of unleaded has risen 13 cents over the past two weeks and now stands at $3.42.

In the Richmond metro, the average is $3.31 a gallon.

Analysts claim that maintenance at refineries, low inventories and rising crude oil prices are causing the surge.
