CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) — A former Culpeper police officer who shot and killed a woman in front of a school has been sentenced.

WUSA reports Daniel Harmon-Wright was sentenced on Friday to 36 months in jail.

Harmon-Wright was found guilty of manslaughter earlier this week for killing Patricia Cook in the parking lot of a school in February of 2012.

Harmon-Wright had faced up to 25 years in prison.

WUSA reports the judge denied the defense’s request for a mistrial. Sentencing has been delayed over allegations that jurors had used a dictionary during deliberations.
