Chicago teen killed weeks after performing at inauguration

(WTVR) - A shooting in Chicago took the life of a teenager who had just performed at President Obama's inauguration.

Police said 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was gunned down at a Chicago park just blocks away from her school.

A witness said about ten students in the park scattered when a man opened fire. Hadiya and another teen collapsed.

She was a part of the Chicago drill team that marched and performed in the inauguration parade in D.C.

Bonita O'Bannion, a neighbor expressed her concern.

"There has to be an end to it," O'Bannion said, "It's just too much, the children cannot go to school, they are in fear."

Police do not believe the teens were the intended targets.

The other teen is still recovering at a Chicago hospital.
