CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Police arrested a man accused of trying to rape a woman outside a Chesterfield nightclub. Richard Broaddus, 44, is charged with attempted rape, according to an email from Chesterfield police.

Police said Broaddus tried to sexually assault a woman who had returned to her car outside Visions Dance Club on Koger Center Boulevard early Sunday morning.

The suspect ran off when the woman, who police described as 49 years old, screamed. People at the club heard the scream and came to help her.

Police arrested Broaddus during a traffic stop. The woman later identified him as the attacker.
