YORK, Pa.(WGHP) -- Mourners at a Pennsylvania fast-food lover’s funeral wanted to give him a whopper of a send-off.
So they arranged for his hearse — and the rest of the procession — to make one last drive-thru visit at Burger King before reaching the cemetery.
The York Daily Record reported that 88-year-old World War II veteran David Kime Jr. died on Jan. 20. Restaurant manager Margaret Hess said she and her crew made 40 burgers for the funeral procession.
Kime’s family said that Saturday’s funeral was not a joke, but a way to honor him.
Kime’s daughter, Linda Phiel, described her father as a man who “lived by his own rules.” She said he considered the lettuce on a burger his version of healthy eating.
