PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (WTVR) — An iconic 26-foot tall statue of Marilyn Monroe is getting spruced up.

Firefighters hosed down the statue, titled “Forever Marilyn,” in Palm Springs on Wednesday.

The Desert Sun reports Marilyn was sprayed off by the Palm Springs Fire Department’s Ron Skyberg, an engineer and paramedic. He operated a hose atop the firetruck’s 75-foot ladder to spray down the statue’s head and upper body.

Walter Hays, another firefighter and paramedic, got the honors of finishing off Monroe’s bottom half.

Fire officials told the Desert Sun that  the process, which helped remove bird droppings and dust, used up about 200 gallons of water. The statue also received some minor paint touch-ups.

“Forever Marilyn” is a traveling public art project.
