HENRICO COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - Did you wake-up with snow covering your neighborhood streets? Thursday morning's snow prompted some school districts to delay or even cancel classes.

Not Henrico County. County schools opened -- on time.

"The decision to delay or not delay is made very carefully," Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks said in a statement to CBS 6. "In this case, the transportation staff began assessing road conditions at 4:00 a.m. and worked with the County Roads Department to review travel conditions throughout the county."

Jenks said the school system made the decision to stay open at 5:00 a.m. -- after assessing the roads and reviewing the forecast.

Some parents disagreed with the county's decision.

"I think they should have closed because of the weather," Demetris Moss, whose child attends Henrico schools, said.  "Hanover closed, Goochland was on a two-hour delay.  I think Henrico should have at least been on a two-hour delay or closed."

Others, on the CBS 6 Facebook page, supported the county's decision.

"I think it is a good call. However, I am not out there in the winter. Friday we were closed and did not have to be," Jessica Teel-Goode wrote.

"Right call for Henrico," Stephen Vise added. "A heavy dusting is not reason to close."
