Man: Stabbing suspect was kicked out of party
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Police are investigating a stabbing at a home in Chesterfield that sent four people to the hospital early Sunday morning.
Officials said it happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 5300 block of Dermotte Lane.
Jake Sites, who lives where the altercation unfolded, told CBS 6 News’ Jake Burns that four people were involved – including his brother and two of his friends.
Sites said he was hosting a party when a man showed up with a woman, who was of Sites’ friends. Police identified that man as 18-year-old Jared Coffey, whose last known address is in Orlando, Florida.
Sites said a fight broke out when Coffey reportedly called the woman names and shoved her into one of Sites’ other friends. That’s when Sites said he kicked Coffey out of the party.
However, Sites said once Coffey was outside, the man pulled out a fishing knife and started stabbing people in the driveway.
Sites’ brother Cameron, and his friend Ryan Gregory, were stabbed multiple times, according to police. Officials said the woman was stabbed back and in the kidney.
The three victims were taken to VCU Medical Center. Coffey, who was also stabbed, was transported to Chippenham Hospital.
Police, who was arrested Coffey when he was released from the hospital, is being held at the Riverside Regional Jail.
Coffey faces three counts of malicious wounding.
