RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A Senate committee at the General Assembly advanced legislation closing the so-called “gun show loophole,” but then changed its mind.

The Courts of Justice Committee voted to advance a measure, which would only allow federally licensed dealers to sell at gun shows.

However, the committee later reconsidered and said lawmakers will vote again on Monday.

Currently, both licensed dealers and individual sellers can sell at gun shows, but only licensed dealers are required to run criminal background checks.
