Free flu shots available

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Flu season is in full swing, but it isn't too late to get your flu shot. The Richmond Public Health Department is offering free shots to people who register for them.

Registration begins today for the free immunization at 400 E. Cary St. at the Richmond Public Health Department between the hours of 1:00 p.m and 4:00 p.m.

If you can't make it on Tuesday, you can also register on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

A vaccine is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control for everyone age 6-months and older.

The elderly and children are most vulnerable to the flu.

The flu season typically peaks around this time though it could even last until May.
