RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — The rector of the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors is closer to holding on to her job.

A Senate panel at the Capitol voted Tuesday to reappoint Helen Dragas to a second four-year term at the university.

Dragas came under fire last year ¬†after the board tried to fire UVA’s President Teresa Sullivan, who was later reinstated.

The vote now heads to the Senate floor.
