RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — The rector of the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors is closer to holding on to her job.

A Senate panel at the Capitol voted Tuesday to reappoint Helen Dragas to a second four-year term at the university.

Dragas came under fire last year  after the board tried to fire UVA’s President Teresa Sullivan, who was later reinstated.

The vote now heads to the Senate floor.
