RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—Major delays on the Powhite Parkway due to a fuel spill covering the road.

A total of five cars wrecked due to separate car accidents, said Gene Lepley with the Richmond Police Department

A petroleum-based oil fell off a vehicle around 3 p.m., said Lepley, just north of the bridge before the Douglasdale split. Three vehicles hit the jersey wall.

There have been no serious injuries, but there was one minor injury. Motorists can expect delays, and as of 5:30 p.m. the section was still shut down.

The delay zone is from Powhite north from Chippenham parkway,  before the toll plaza, to 195 north all the way to Interstate 95.

Please exercise caution while traveling through the area.

Richmond ambulance, fire, and police on scene and Virginia Department of Transportation have  been called to assist.
