(WTVR) – Two deaf twin brothers in Belgium chose last month to be euthanized, after becoming distraught of the prospect of not being able to see each other.

They found out they were going blind and applied for euthanasia. The twins, who were born deaf, had spent their entire lives together.

Marc and Eddy Verbessem of Putte were voluntarily euthanized on Dec. 14 by lethal injection at Brussels University Hospital. The doctor, who performed the procedure, said the twins were “very happy”.
