Steeler’s player arrested for battery, loses job

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WTVR)– Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey was arrested Thursday morning, confirmed police.

Rainey was arrested in Gainesville, Fla. and charged with one count of simple battery, after an altercation with his girlfriend turned physical, reports the NFL.

The arrest has cost Rainey his job, and the Steeler’s general manager told the NFL that Rainey’s actions “were extremely disappointing.”

“Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
