PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) — Police in Petersburg are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous.

Andre Mason is one of four suspects who engaged police in a shootout Wednesday night.

Police said the four men fired into an officer’s car in the 1000 block of South Crater Road, which triggered a pursuit that carried on to I-95 south and then continued on to Wagner Road.

That’s where police said the suspects crossed the median and struck another police car heading in the opposite  direction.

Police said Mason was driving the suspected vehicle and managed to get away on foot after the crash.

Chaz Brown, Bennie Young and Darius Harris are all facing a number of charges, including attempted capital murder.

Police said that a MAC-10, a semi-automatic assault style weapon was recovered.

John Dixon, Petersburg Police Chief, is currently sitting on Vice President Biden’s gun violence panel, along with select chiefs from across the country.

DIxon said he hopes the panel can successfully address how to keep such weapons out of the hands of people who want to harms citizens and police.
