A strong ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern U.S. this weekend, resulting in near-record warmth for the Commonwealth.  The red line in the graph below indicates the cool down we’ll see Thursday and Friday, followed by the big warm-up over the weekend.  Even on the cooler days the highs will remain several degrees above normal.  We’ll likely see three consecutive days of 70+ degree warmth Sat-Mon, before cooler air moves back into the region on Tuesday.Zach Wind Chills

The term “Indian Summer” is thrown around pretty loosely whenever there is a warm-up in the fall, but in this case, the meaning is spot on.  The true definition of an Indian Summer is a stretch of unseasonable warmth which occurs after the first killing frost or freeze.  What we will see this weekend more than qualifies, with highs near records Saturday and Sunday.  Enjoy the Spring preview! -Zach
