According to multiple reports, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will have surgery to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee later this week.

During that operation, Doctor James Andrews will determine how severe the injury is to his anterior cruciate ligament, which was originally injured back in 2009 at Baylor University.

The severity of both ligament tears will determine Griffin’s recovery time, which at worst would be about a year, and at best could be only 6 months.

Redskins’ officials made no official comment about Griffin’s condition today.
