Los Angeles, CA (CBS) – A new U.S. Government report on cancer is gaining a lot of attention.

The report shows cancer deaths fell in the United States from 2000 to 2009 by an average of 1.8% per year for men, and 1.4% for women.

The report says less smoking and more early detection are key in the treatment of cancer.

Dr. David Agus, a professor of medicine and engineering at the University of Southern California also credits baby aspirin with helping prevent cancer deaths. “A baby aspirin a day will reduce the risk of cancer by 30%,” says Dr. Agus.

Dr. Agus also believes a healthy diet can lower your cancer risk, along with constant movement. He says sitting at a desk all day is just as bad for your body as smoking a pack of cigarettes.

He still says the decrease is not enough. For the full story, click here: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57562685/doctor-cancer-death-decrease-not-enough/
