Etty Allen, widow of ex-NFL coach George Allen, dies

The mother of former Virginia senator George Allen  has died. The family said Henriette “Etty” Allen passed away on January 2, after a long bout with an illness.

She was the widow of pro-football coach George H. Allen.  He coached with the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins and earned a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He passed away in 1990.

Her son Bruce Allen is currently the Redskins’ general manager.
