HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico fire crews battled a house fire along the 8300 block of Colebrook Road in a neighborhood between E. Parham and Chamberlayne Roads.

Henrico Fire spokesman Capt. Jim Mellon said when crews first arrived around 10:45 Friday morning, they saw smoke pouring from the house.

“Fire crews went to work and discovered a fire on the first level of the home. As crews were working on extinguishing the fire it was observed that heavy smoke was pushing out of the attic,” Mellon wrote in an email. “Fire soon broke out on the exterior through the walls and it was discovered the fire had traveled to the attic.”

It took crews about a half an hour to bring the fire under control, Mellon said.

The homeowner was out of town when the fire started. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Mellon said.
